Caterwalling caterpiller
Cartwheeling careened
Stem to branch to tree
Thump thump through veins heard
Crawling forth of fingered leaf
Some grasping bruising way
Some bridging giving play
Sometimes in sunlight
Munching leaves a song
Alive not lingered long
Bending waves of color
From flowered reaches flown
In motion
So wrapped in sleep and sown
As one near fully grown
Gnawing not on bone
With wings to greet the daylight
